The Loudest Stadium in Football Has One Trophy

The 2026 season opens in Seattle on September 9. Which means the noise, the flag, and the 12s all come back at once — and so does everyone else's favourite counterargument.

The noise is real

Give them this: it is genuinely the loudest thing in the sport, or was. Seattle set a Guinness record for crowd roar in 2013 at 137.6 decibels. Kansas City took it back the following year at 142.2. Both numbers are absurd. Both stadiums are built to funnel sound down onto the field on purpose.

The twelfth-man thing is licensed

Here is the detail that never makes the broadcast: Texas A&M owns the trademark on that phrase. Seattle pays them to use it. The most identity-defining thing about the fanbase is rented.

And then there is the last play

One title. February 2014, and it was a demolition — 43–8 over Denver, completely deserved.

The following year they were on the one-yard line with twenty-six seconds left, a running back who had carried them all season, and they threw a slant. Malcolm Butler jumped it. That is the play, and it will be the play for another twenty years.

None of this means Seattle is a bad franchise. It means they have exactly one more trophy than the noise level suggests, and every visiting fan in that building knows which play to bring up.

What to wear there

Seachickens Suck — the blunt one, front and back print, XS through 4XL.

Seachickens Since 2012 — for the bandwagon argument. Nobody there owned a jersey before the winning started.

Both are printed to order: 2–5 business days to make, 3–7 in transit. Order by the end of August if you want it for the opener. Two shirts ship free in the US and take 15% off automatically.
